Nodee Alexander, the son of Yoshiko (Saito) and Leland O. Alexander, was born February 12, 1950 in Yokosuka, Japan. He was called to be with the Lord on at his home in Guide Rock, Nebraska on April 1, 2021 following a lengthy battle with diabetes and its debilitating effects. Nodee arrived in the United States following his 12th birthday. His English language skills were limited so he spent many hours with his Aunt Stella Damon over that first summer learning basic English. He started American school in Hutchinson, Kansas the next fall beginning in Junior High. After his 17th birthday he asked his father to sign a consent to join the Navy. He served honorably and returned to Hutchinson where he met his future wife, Linda. They were married August 7, 1971 in Hutchinson. To this union they were blessed with twins, Daniel and Jaime, in 1976. Nodee began his food industry career at Doskocil Sausage Company in Hutchinson, Kansas in 1972. A 42 year career in food processing, both production and sanitation, led him from employee to management. Many years of food processing education, hard work and dedication to the industry led him to a 3 state area, Kansas, Dockocil and Smithfield, Colorado, Con-Agra Longmont Foods and to St. Joseph, Missouri where he managed a contract sanitation crew for Triumph Foods. After retiring to Guide Rock, Nodee wasn’t ready for the rocking chair. He mowed the first season for the Village of Guide Rock. He had become acquainted with Mike Kenny of Kenny’s Lumber in Red Cloud. Mike needed help with building, inventory and customer care. Nodee had found a perfect part-time position in his retirement. He stayed several years there up until his health began to fail. He had met a great number of local people and found some wonderful friendships. No matter where Nodee lived or worked, he made friends easily with his sense of humor and his willingness, kindness and generosity to always help when needed, whether it be for a friend, co-worker or a total stranger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and making wood crafts for his grandchildren. He was a great husband and father but he really enjoyed his grandchildren and tried to stay involved with their activities. He would have tried to hang the moon for them if he could. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Jeri Phillips. Surviving and left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda, of Guide Rock; son, Daniel Alexander and wife, Micky, of Springfield, Virginia; daughter, Jaime Oglesby and husband, Brent, of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren, Courtney Alexander of Monterey, California; Matthew Alexander of Springfield, Virginia; Jace Oglesby and Keaton Oglesby both of Loveland, Colorado; a brother, Don Alexander and wife, Betty, of south Hutchinson, Kansas; a sister, Ruth Helsel of Winfield, Kansas and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Graveside services with military honors held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 9:30 am at the Highland Cemetery in Jewell County, Kansas.
