Cindy Howard passed away
Cynthia Jo Howard-Canada passed from this life on July 28, 2020, at the age of 70 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Cindy was born on July 18, 1950, in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Cindy grew up and attended school in Hutchinson graduating with the Class of 1968.
She was one of the first female probation parole officers in the state of Oklahoma in the late 70s. She believed in the power of education and earned her Master’s in Social Work from OU in the mid 90s. She affected change and spent nearly 40 years advocating for Oklahoma’s children as a career social worker for OKDHS. She exuded empathy, preached compassion, and demanded fairness.
Cindy is survived by: husband, Al Canada; daughter, Sara Mautino (Cayce); granddaughter, Lily; sister, Randy Wood; and cousin, Linda Scoggin (Chris), all of Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; niece, Rhena Jones; and cousin, Marty Lewis.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Cindy enjoyed helping others, and continued to help individuals after her untimely death, as she was an organ donor.
